If you're planning a Barbados itinerary, this 6-day guide covers beaches, nightlife, food spots, and some of my favorite local experiences.
On my recent trip, I stayed in Christ Church, which is one of the best areas to stay if you want easy access to beaches, nightlife, and local food.
Here’s the exact itinerary I followed — feel free to steal it for your own Barbados trip.
Where I Stayed
I stayed at a cozy Airbnb in Christ Church, which put me within walking distance of the beach and only a short taxi ride from nightlife in St. Lawrence Gap.
Christ Church is a great base because you're close to:
-
Welch’s Beach
-
Miami Beach
-
St. Lawrence Gap (locals call it “The Gap”)
-
Oistins
If you’re visiting Barbados for the first time, this area makes getting around really easy.
Day 1: Welch's Beach & The Gap
Daytime
One of the things I loved about staying in Christ Church was being able to walk to the beach. I walked over to Welch’s Beach, stopping to grab a cold beer from Massey’s grocery store on the way. There’s also a small wing spot nearby called Gil’s Southern Fry if you're craving something casual.
The beach here is beautiful and much quieter than some of the more popular spots.
Evening
At night, take a taxi or Uber to St. Lawrence Gap, the main nightlife area in Barbados.
The Gap is full of restaurants, bars, and music. It’s the kind of place where you can have dinner and then just follow the energy from spot to spot.
One place I recommend checking out is Crave, which is known as the only Black-owned bar and grill in The Gap.
Expect good food, drinks, music, and a lively atmosphere.
Day 2: Miami Beach & Oistins Fish Fry
Daytime
On day two, take a taxi to Miami Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Barbados.
You can rent two beach chairs for about 30 Bajan dollars, which is well worth it if you're planning to stay for a few hours.
There are food trucks right on the beach, but another classic move is grabbing food from Chefette or KFC beforehand and bringing it with you.
Spend the day swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the sun.
Evening
Friday night in Barbados means one thing:Oistins Fish Fry.
This is one of the most famous food experiences on the island. You’ll find fresh seafood, music, drinks, and a huge crowd of locals and visitors all hanging out together.
Order grilled fish, grab a drink, and soak up the atmosphere.
Day 3: Rihanna’s Roots + Shopping
Daytime
No Barbados trip is complete without stopping by Rihanna’s childhood home.
Visitors often stop here to take photos, grab souvenirs, and sometimes even grab a drink nearby.
After that, head over to Swan Street for shopping. This area is packed with small shops and local vendors where you can find souvenirs and gifts.
Evening
For dinner and nightlife, head back to The Gap. Every night has a slightly different vibe, so it's worth visiting more than once during your trip.
Day 4: Local Bars + 2nd Street Party
Daytime
One of the best ways to experience Barbados is simply bar hopping and exploring.
Two spots worth checking out:
-
Turtle Bottom Bar
-
Wendy’s Sports Bar
Both have a relaxed local atmosphere and are great places to grab a drink during the day.
Evening
At night, head to 2nd Street in Holetown.
This area is known for its street party atmosphere, with music spilling out of bars and plenty of places to stop for drinks.
Some nights you’ll even find karaoke happening in the street, which makes for a fun and lively night out.
Day 5: Beach Day + Local Food
Daytime
On day five I kept things simple.
I walked back over to Welch’s Beach for another relaxing beach day.
For food, I grabbed a quick bite from Chefette, which is basically a Barbados institution.
Later I stopped at Gil’s Southern Fry for beer and wings, which is always a good idea after a beach day.
Evening
For a more laid-back night, head to The Village Bar in Lemon Arbor.
It’s a relaxed local spot where you can grab drinks and enjoy the evening without the bigger nightlife crowds.
Day 6: Sunrise Horses + Island Landmarks
Daytime
One of the most unique experiences in Barbados happens early in the morning at Pebbles Beach.
At sunrise, the racehorses from the nearby stables come down to the beach to swim. Watching them run into the ocean is something you won’t forget.
While you're there, take photos with the BARBADOS sign at Browns Beach.
Afterward you can grab breakfast right on the beach before heading out to explore more of the island.
A great landmark to visit is the Lion of Gun Hill, a historic statue with incredible views of the countryside.
Evening
To end the trip, I visited Farmer’s Pub, a casual spot that’s great for drinks and good food.
It was the perfect way to wrap up a week of beaches, music, and island vibes.
Final Thoughts
Barbados is the kind of place where the itinerary almost doesn't matter. Every day naturally turns into something memorable.
Between the beaches, the food, and the nightlife, there’s always something to do.
